• This storage basket has been made by women weavers living near a lake in northern Thailand. Collecting, drying and weaving the water hyacinth fibre that grows here provides extra income for the women of the local farming community and also benefits the environment. Left to grow unchecked, water hyacinths clog waterways, restricting the movement of sediment and slowly smothering aquatic life. By purchasing this basket you are supporting the farmers and aiding the regeneration of the lake.
